Hey there, I’m Sarah

I am an Information Designer based in Calgary, Alberta. I pride myself in making visualizations and designs that bring a better understanding of the world around us. I also have  the perfect song for just about any situation

What I Do

Data visualization allows your message to be represented visually so that the information can be understood quickly and easily. Data visualization comes in many forms; infographics, graphs, charts, diagrams and many more.

Wayfinding systems include the development of indoor maps, building directories and signage systems that use a common language and sets of symbols for navigating public buildings and spaces. These systems are constructed to abide by Canadian standards as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Identity design can mean many different things, whether you’re looking for a tune up on an existing logo, or you need the total package. I can offer a broad range of services including logo design, identity packages (logo, social media, stationary and web design) and style guide development using existing brand guidelines.

Using graphics, colours, images and typography, graphic design allows the creation of a visual medium for your message or ideas. This can include posters, promotional materials as well as elements of data visualization, way finding, identity design and many more.

Using knowledge in the field of User Experience (how the product feels) and User Interface Design (how the product is laid out), as well as the ideas behind Information Architecture I can perform a wide variety of usability tests. These tests include car sorting, heuristic evaluation hallway testing, one-one-one and many more on your website, application or printed medium.

Web design, like other services is more of an umbrella term for a wide array of what I can do with you. This includes web graphic design, interface design, content authoring, website maintenance, HTML and CSS editing as well as search engine optimization.

Words from Clients

  • While her contribution was initially focused in communications and information design, her impact was felt across departmental boundaries and contributed to Team Alberta’s success in public outreach, creating a coherent touring strategy and to the visual aesthetic of the house as exhibited in California. Some of the highlights of her contribution included the creation of infographics explaining in a simple but technically adequate way the various mechanical, electrical and structural systems that made Borealis a sustainable solar home; perfecting the touring narratives that were used by the Team Tour guides in explaining the house to over 64,000 visitors over 10 days; and lastly creating an engaging “build your own Borealis” brochure which was not only visually beautiful but executed swiftly and under budget. Sarah is a resourceful and creative team player which has enabled Team Alberta success. Any company or project would be fortunate to have her on board.
